Our Annual Careers Fair took place on Thursday 20th October with the theme ‘What’s the best pathway for you?’
The keynote speaker was Mr John Brolly, Marketing Manager for the Irish News and former pupil of St Columb’s. He gave an inspiring and informative talk about his own pathway from St Columb’s and he encouraged our Year 13 and Year 14 pupils to think about their personal development, seeking out opportunities and making connections.
The Careers Fair was officially launched by Mr Madden and ran from 10.00 am to 1.00 pm. Over 60 exhibitors from a variety of industries, universities and local businesses interacted and engaged with pupils, not only from St Columb’s College but also from a range of schools in the Derry area as well as from the Republic of Ireland. Over 35 talks and presentations were also available for students to attend which gave a more in depth view of courses and possible career pathways.
We received some fantastic feedback from both exhibitors and students, and we are very proud of the success of our event. Mary Higgins an Associate Director with Education, Recruitment & Marketing stated ‘ I was overwhelmed by the amazing organisation of this fair but more important the wonderful students you had helping out on the day. They were absolutely fantastic and the fact that they were given responsibility for signing us in etc. was just great’.
A massive thank you to all involved and especially to our students for doing such a wonderful job on the day.
