Congratulations to Mrs Valadez Peña who has received the Education Grant offered by The Goldsmiths’ Company Charity to realise her educational project. Five teachers from UK were shortlisted to attend an interview in The Goldsmiths’ Hall. The Education Committee appreciated all the effort which she and Mr Madden put into her application and was impressed by her enthusiastic presentation of her project. Mrs Valadez Peña is hoping to become a Makaton Tutor so that she can train the students in St. Columb’s College and strengthen the links with our local special school Ardnashee School and College. She is also hoping to be able to offer training to the wider community (parents, guardians, teachers, teaching assistants).
Congratulations also go to Mrs Gallagher, who was one of the other five teachers to be shortlisted alongside Mrs Valadez Peña and whose project also left a great impression.
Mrs Valadez Peña would like to thank St Columb’s College for the encouragement offered to apply for the grant and The Goldsmiths’ Company Charity for choosing her project. Without their support none of this would be possible.
