Congratulations to Ben Byrne and Caoimhin Saunders in year 12 and also to Shaun Carlin and Ben White in year 13 who were successful in completing their accredited course (Open College Network) as part of the 2019-2020 BFI Film Academy. All BFI Academy Graduate Showcased their work at the Brunswick Superbowl on Friday 7th February at 5.30pm, were parents and friends could view their work. Many thanks to Eavan King from the Nerve Centre also for all her patience and work with the boys.

All pupils went through an interview process to obtain their place on the academy. Each pupil, got the opportunity to avail of masterclasses with professionals in their chosen industries, learning new skills and gaining insight into their chosen disciplines.

“The course is Industry mentored and accredited and exclusive opportunities for work placement and training in the Industry through the National Film and Television School and Future Films programme exist for students of this programme.

Now in its seventh year, this highly successful, industry focused film programme has mentored over 120 young people in the North West towards a career in the film industry. 

By studying all aspects of film and having award winning professionals as mentors, successful students have gone on to study, train and work in the film industry in Northern Ireland and further afield. There is also a strong level of grade progression shown by students who have successfully completed the programme.” Eavan King
