Overview

St Columbs College Mathematics Department provides all pupils with a positive and supportive learning environment to develop their mathematical and problem-solving skills. All pupils are given the opportunity to become more confident in their mathematical ability through quality learning experiences, including mathematical competitions and problem-solving activities. Pupils develop their independent study skills and use digital resources to enhance their mathematical understanding. Within lessons, pupils are encouraged to discuss their mathematical techniques and give reasons for their choice to allow them to develop better communication skills. 

All teachers strive to support each pupil to achieve the success in Mathematics which will enable them to progress in their chosen future career. The application of mathematics in real world contexts is explored and discussed to enable the pupils to apply their skills in a range of situations.
